The Magic of Her Smiling Eyes
What is this mystery
Where does her secret lie
It's not in her beauty
Though her age is disguised
It's in the magic of her smiling eyes
It's not in her voice
Or the grace of her stance
It's not in the stride of her step
It's her inner light that leaves you entranced
It's in the magic of her smiling eyes
Her spirit infectious that no man can master
While no stranger to tragedy or demise
It's not in her laughter resounding ever after
It's not that she's wealthy or wise
It's in the magic of her smiling eyes
There's not a soul in the world
Untouched by pain a string of broken dreams that have died
She refuses to focus on things which are hopeless
It's optimism bubbling where springs of fresh water reside
It's in the magic of her smiling eyes
When hateful actions failed to kill her
Though for a time bowed head and lowered eyes
From yesterday's rooted in pain she beckoned
Not I, not I, I will rise
It's in the magic of her smiling eyes
Tis the daybreak of freedom
From teardrops so heavy too thick to even cry
This is the undaunted mystery
That persistently begs to know why
Its in the magic of her smiling eyes
Captivity no more her light shines forth
A diadem of victory realized
From beauty to ashes and back again
Her destiny hanging on for the ride
In this resides...
The magic of her smiling eyes
