The Love of Nature

Listening to the splashing sound Of water running in rock pool We did walk to higher ground Where the breeze it seemed quite cool No more my limbs are in their prime As these hills they are quite steep In my younger days I would climb Now I leave it to grazing sheep Although I am no longer young I try to do my very best I guess I know my song is sung So I sit down to have a rest I guess that still, I do love life Nature gives me so much joy But though the aches they give me strife My love of life naught can destroy

GREAT write Vera, I can so relate to this write. I am just beginning my 60's, but I know pain, it began at 16 falling down a flight of stairs and accumulated from there leading to 3 spine surgeries... I keep on keeping on as long as I can get around. (feeling lucky that I can)

Hi Lenna, thank you for your delightful comment, Oh! you poor thing falling down the stairs, it sounds as though you are in pain, I really feel for you, I am 74 in a couple of weeks time and yes I am in pain, mainly arthritis but that is something we have to put up with these days, doesn't stop me from being active though, thank you so much and please take care......Vera

Vera, I love the reflective and humorous touches in this beautiful and uplifting write. Aches and pains are sometimes knocking on my door and I try not to listen; I just hope they won't get too much louder as I am soon to be in my sixties:)

Oh after what I just said and I see you writing about aches. Dear, I have had aches since age 40. I am NOT looking forward to the next 20 years regarding the aches and pains going into 70's, etc. Sorry you have them, Vera. I liked how you put them into this poem and "leave it to the grazing sheep."

Now in answer to your lovely comment. Glad I am not the only one suffering with aches etc. like you I have had them coming on since I was in my 40's, I hope they don't get any worse as I am in my 70's now, actually I did not know where I was going with this poem but it did turn out okay I guess. Take care my dear and look after those aches........Vera

Vera, first I want to say, think positive. You probably have just as good a chance as I do of being here in 20 years! now let me read your poem!

Life is to be loved and enjoyed, Vera, especially by those who find beauty in nature. Age might not be on our side, but we're not throwing in the towel, as yet:) #7 Regards // paul

I am with you Vera. I used to love to hike...that ship has sailed! At least I can still swim laps. I adore your imagery in this little gem of a poem...how I can just picture your grazing sheep. Delightful Vera! You are growing as a poet. Hugs, Connie : ) 7
