The Longest Night

The empty heart cries in the longest night, and is heard only by the tear that falls. The dawn of pain rises slow to its height, To flee from the dark loneliness that calls. Quiet is black when it inhales alone, and the cold walls of confusion intrude. Where the pained heart struggles with the unknown, and tortured shadowed worlds become subdued. How long do eyes stare into the void? How tight the eyelids close to still its gleam. To look into the soul and find it devoid. Cross thresholds of pain a nightmarish dream. How cold time is, it can never relent, and how deep is pain when the heart is spent.

Love the line, "Quiet is black when it inhales alone." I had to read it a few times.
