The Lonely Man

It was a strange town he found himself in A Saturday night dance beckoned him come With warmth he entered that barn made of tin And saw more beauty than where he came from Her brown eyes and a pouty little mouth Caused a first love he questioned not at all He knew he would stay here in the deep South And be with this girl at her beck and call They danced every dance 'til came the dawn He started to tell her of his great plan But she kissed him softly and then was gone He searched but was left just a lonely man He's old now and as his mind often does His thoughts turn to her - wonders who she was August 19, 2016
