The Lonely Life Briton Riviere
Being a queen is not so great
always under the spotlight
never a moment to relax
so many people fawning
Ah, but few who are real friends
most just after what they can get
the lonely life is what I lead
as I tend to state duty's
My life is like a fish bowl
I am always on display
yet I must smile and wave
to my subjects as I pass
Bed is the only time to myself
there only can I take repose
shut out my kingdom for now
then back to sit on my lonely throne
From there I can see my portrait
painted by the great Briton Riviere
depicted in front of my ladies in waiting
I sit suffering , as I rule in loneliness
