The Little Donkey
A lonely donkey stood in the corner
of a humble manger, piled deep with hay.
Gathered with strangers ‘n sweet smelling myrrh,
not knowing this would be a special day.
At this very moment, God held him close
to witness the birth of a new kingdom.
He looked upon the child in swaddling clothes,
and could not possibly know why he’d come.
He only knew a great feeling of love
as his big brown eyes filled with tears of joy.
Proclaimed with a shining star from above,
God has given the world his baby boy.
To bring hope and forgiveness as we pray,
beginning with His birth on Christmas Day.
