The Little Boy By the Sea

The Little Boy by the Sea As I walked by the sea one day, I watched a small boy at play. His Mom was sitting on a rock nearby, Looking out to the far distant sky. I saw the agony in her eyes, I saw the tears that come when one cries. I saw the fear and the sting, That only the loss of a loved one can bring. The little boy built a castle in the sand, Not aware his Dad died in a foreign land. He was really happy waiting for his Dad, Not like his Mom, looking so sad. She knew she must tell him tonight, The Story about how his Dad had to fight. About the way he had died, Of the lonely nights since, she had cried. Now the story is told and her boy is a man, He has gone to that far distant land. He’s happy now and his Mom is glad, But I must tell you, I was the little boy’s Dad. ©2008 Lynn B Glover

A fine poem written by a poetic ghost. Such loss will always be with us as long as death has power over us. Smooth flow , great rhyme!!

Thanks so much Robert for those kind words. I was stationed on board the USS Lenawee and began to dream one day and this is the results. Thanks again for stopping by. Lynn
