The Lord is my salvation and my light, the stronghold of my life, whom shall I fear? Protecting when the foe attacks by night; the prayers of his children he will hear. O holy Lord, my sin has been a veil, a waywardness that blinds my eyes to you; a poisoned cloud I willingly inhale that dulls the spirit and obstructs the view. One thing I ask, Lord; this is what I seek: to gaze upon the beauty of your face. The dark is often strong and I am weak, remove this veil that I may see your grace. Yet now we walk by faith and not by sight until we see, with brand new eyes, your light. a meditation on Psalm 27 written 16 Mar 2022

"remove this veil that I may see your grace. Yet now we walk by faith and not by sight until we see, with brand new eyes, your light....." What a soul rending supplication to God ! I see in this the longing of a devotee who wishes in all earnestness to be guided by the illuminating light God grants ! This is my prayer too. May God give you light, dear John ! Blessings on your way !

Huge congrats on POTD - A touching write, I have the same thoughts often my friend and ask God how can he ever forgive me, because man was not born perfect, and we sin daily - small insignificant things, I marvel at your honesty, and cannot ever assume that i will reach heaven one day, i can only pray that i am forgiven as in the prayer 'Our Father who art in Heaven' Another fave John. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Anil, the Psalms are gifts from the father to his children. Songs to sing to him, and words to teach, encourage, and console. I'm glad to know they feed your soul, as they do mine. Blessings ~ John

So very heartfelt and vulnerable John . I love your meditation . The dark is often strong and I am weak . My sin has been a veil . This is true of many . You have the ability to glimpse into the heart and soul of us. Yet now we walk by faith and not by sight . Then surrender into your light . It finishes in radiance with new eyes . Such a gift . Belated congratulations my friend on POTD ! This is such an inspired write ! Hugs, Susan :)

Your meditation is as potent as it is humbling and your golden pen never fails to shine; “my sin has been a veil” is such an amazing metaphor and serves to make your closing couplet all the more enlightening and jubilant. Congratulations for the richly deserved recognition of POTD honors, my dear friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS! My dear friend John, Your poem is absolutely beautiful!! Every line feels like a lesson for my soul & reminds me of my prayers every night. "The dark is often strong" "I am weak" "remove this veil that I may see your grace" We must remember that if we ask for forgiveness, we will be forgiven. You have chosen such perfect words to portray this scripture! The last two lines tie everything together like a perfect ribbon on God's gift to all! Much love...Meghan

Your meditation of what the psalmist wrote, is beautiful in every way. So many thoughts to linger upon and be uplifted by: "the prayers of His children He will hear." My heart rejoices knowing this fact. "we walk by faith and not by sight." Yes ! And Faith comes from hearing His Word. (Studying and Understanding). You are right, my dear friend, sin is a veil covering our eyes. Your thoughts caress softly around me and my heart. Congratulations John, on Poem of the Day. Many wonderful blessings to you. :) Hugs, Brandy
