The Letter
Love me now and let me go.
I’ve got to do my show.
You know where we stand,
make no demand.
I love you,
but do not try to
come between what I do.
If you try to keep me from the stage,
I will go into a rage.
Showbiz is my life.
I can’t give it up because you want me to be your wife.
Everything I did
is because it’s what I wanted
since I was a kid.
This is my chance to be a star.
I can’t stay with you the way you are.
I want to go to the top
and nothing you say will make me stop.
Mister Burns said I can be the star of the show
if I let you go.
If you love me let me do this.
We are going on the road, hon’.
Wish me luck with a kiss.
