The Last Wave

Dear Mom. It's been just over 25 years since your passing. I often think of the time when I and my little family moved within a couple of blocks from you, and we saw each other nearly every day for three years, never realizing that a year later we would be 2000 miles apart. It's unfortunate that I lived so far away and did not get to see you as often as I would have liked it. I will never forget visiting you for the last time 2 years before your demise and I totally enjoyed our time spent together. I became more aware of your health issues, and you gave me a better understanding of my own health. Thank you, Mom, for always being such a caring mother. I miss you. Mom, that visit with you made living without you all these years much more doable. When it came time for me to depart, you walked out with me. I'm sure there were other waves before this one, but I don't remember them. But this moment of leaving you, I can see you waving as I drove off, never realizing it was to be the last wave. When I think of you, I never cease to remember the time that I was a young teen and gave my life completely to God. In some ways, I had become extreme, a religious fanatic without realizing it. You were courageous, loving, and sensitive enough to guide me to a more balanced relationship with The Lord. My eyes are teary as I think about your gentle touch. It was not a corrective touch. You were simply being 'Motherly'. Mom, I have greatly appreciated the way you demonstrated spirituality to me. Thank you, Mom. When Dad passed, I was only 13. When Grandma died, I was 24. When The Lord called you home, I was 49. I am very grateful for the added years that The Lord gave me to spend with such a lovely and caring mom like you. I love you, Mom. 041523PSCtest, Letter to My Mother. Anoucheka Gangabissoon 1P
