The Last Day
I hope that the last day of my life,
I will see that the moon still has
Its halo, the bird still has its song,
Nemo is no longer missing, and life goes on.
I hope to God I won't belittle those
Happy times that left an impression,
All the smiles I brought to others,
And how none of those days passed unremembered.
I assure you the last day of my life
I will know I'll be remembered,
I will be missed by those select few,
And I'll know that I saved their lives.
I hope I won't say goodbye to those
Memories of sunsets, freshly fallen snow,
Rainshowers, kisses under the mistletoe,
Running through the grass in my bare feet,
And even the promise of a new day.
I hope that I can look back and see
I respected my accomplishments (and had quite a few),
Saw that my only wish happened (that the disturbed
May see peace), and I always had someone
At my side, urging me to go on.
I hope that those ingenuine quotes
Of love still take my breath away,
But, most of all, I hope I can see
That, looking back, life was worth living.
