The Labyrinth

I stand looking in, the narrow path ahead of me. Before me lay twists and turns that I can’t possibly predict. Each step will take me further from refuge. Demons hide in the dark recesses, waiting. I hesitate, foot half raised to take the first step. Fear saturates the air around me. I close my eyes and will my foot to the ground. Exhaling, I take another step forward. Despair will not cripple me, I will persevere. The peril fades in the light of the prize.
