The Joys of Bathing a Dog
The Joys of Bathing a Dog
Procrastination has run its course;
Annie needs a bath!
Her lovely long fur is gray not snow;
Annie needs a bath!
First I check the water temp,
Just like you do for a baby;
She knows what’s going on, she does,
Begins to be a bit crazy.
I find the old towel and start the chase,
Around and round we go.
Finally, I win and splash her in,
(That aggravating so and so.)
Resigned to her fate, she stands up straight,
Lets me scrub a dub dub for a while;
Then sick of it, she wiggles and sits,
Dead weight to be picked up, no smile.
Taking the towel, I start the chase,
She shakes like a belly dancer;
Water and soap land without hope
Covering her world, little Prancer.
That’s all right, she’ll sleep tonight,
And smell like Canine #5.
She’ll be loved from up above,
And I’ll be glad she’s alive.
