The Joke
Go through life doing as your told
Fitting into the world's mold
Everyday spent just getting old
Saving your soul when its already sold
Doesn't matter how hard you try
You can't change it; don't ask why
Six feet deep or six feet high
You and I, we're born to die
Everyone asks if your fine
You give the same worn out line
Life is good, don't worry about mine
Yet you feel sealed in a box of pine
Nothing to lose yet nothing to gain
And all you hear are the drops of rain
They cover up the screams of pain
From the broken heart with no name
If only you could see, if only you knew
That time itself would prove it true
When the storms have passed and skies are blue
You'll come to realize, The Joke's on you
