The Jay

I turn away I look away I stay as far away as stars away the fruit. He looked for you my friend; oh jay I heard the song, the mocking loud so near he walks. I sat so still I held my breath, or else he finds my gleaming eye away my friend. Leave the temple, face the haunted dust beneath my feet exulted. I walk the lonely Earth away I'm cursed to sense and hear the jay.
