The Irish In Me

I have a bit of Irish in me From Grandma Mary Holloway; My German part is quite subdued On this, my grandma's holiday. The Scotch and English part of Mom Combined with Irish from her ma, Make up the whole of half of me. The rest is German from my pa. A boiled potato on her plate Was part of Grandma's daily fare; But adding cabbage and corned beef Made it a feast beyond compare. On this grand day of every year, I think about my family tree And wear the green to show my pride In the quarter Irish part of me. (posted a bit early since I won't be home until after the 17th.)

Wonderful tribute to your family here, Joyce! I had a hard time with my "Irish part of me" as all we seemed to do was kill each other ... smile ... and then the Italian half wasn't any better either ... LOL ...

I have a bit of Irish in myself too dear Joyce Johnson; from my mothers side also~perhaps that is why the band "U2" has always been my very favorite band of all!!? And why I admire Irish accents! And I too have always honored Iris holidays! Actually two of my greatest frinds are Irish! And I loved your proud recognition of your hertiges celebrations here dear lady! Very well presented and written! Love and warmthan, To You and Yours, John!:)

Awesome write! There is no Irish in our family but every year on March 17th we wear green and I make corned beef and cabbage and sometimes have a green beer with it! My dear friend is Irish and there is no spirit that compares to hers! Enjoy your trip! All the best. Love, Shar
