The Hurricanes Are Coming

to start, let’s see if we can refresh your memory; here goes. remember that puddle i laid in for you? remember how you walked all over me while i drowned in water two inches deep? remember how you didn’t say thank you? or how about this: remember how i took the bullet so you wouldn’t have to? remember how much blood there was? do you remember how you cleaned up none of it? alright, last one: do you remember how i tried for you? how i picked the roses with my bare hands and didn’t mind the pricks they left behind, how i wrapped them up neatly, how you gave them to someone else? (any of this ringing a bell?) here’s a new memory: imagine if i didn’t swallow all those hurricanes for you. imagine if i let them sweep you under in their aching stomachs, bellowing and angry. imagine if i let you drown the way you let me. imagine if you didn’t have me - oh, wait. you don’t have to.
