The Human Machine
The Human Machine
Ticks by values of our characters.
“Be the one who wants something to begin
Rather than someone,
Who wants everything to end”,
As said G. K. Chesterton.
They were talking about Chesterton,
dressed in ribbons –
in the golden corners, shining on the table in the saloon.
They talked about his words.
“Disdain of death –
Him who dies for the sake of living.
Disdain of life –
Him who dies for the sake of dying.”
“Sensing the presence of God in flowers
or music, does not give us
Eternal life or will not
Build us up again”,
As C. S. Lewis pointed.
“As if one who had taken seed
Should give to another the flower
Sprung thereof, states Henry the Eight”,
So does the human machine –
Until the spirit it becomes.
