the hem of sunset

He seemed a lonely man Not alone Yet lonely Not seeking companionship Yet never really alone. At times It seemed People gravitated Toward his orbit Circled Pondering His presence Questioning Its necessity. He drifted Through a universe Unknown To those who thought Themselves The center Of theirs. He took the hand Of sunrise Walked with it Through the day And of an evening He touched The hem of sunset.

' People gravitated toward his orbit, ' and ' he drifted through a universe unknown. ' This sounds like the moon, and not a man. ( Lonely, yet never really alone.) Touching ' the hem of the sunset. ' They both need each other. The moon gets light from the sun. Your thoughts caress gently around me and my heart. This is beautiful, yet tender and uplifting, all at the same time. Congratulations John, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Maybe I’m some kind of donut, but I briefly contemplated that ‘he’ may be God, a god, daylight itself or, indeed, a man. Whatever your intention, John, this is a wonderful read which works for me whichever option I go for. Congratulations on a thoroughly worthy POTD. Terry

It’s all about gravity and light on the large scale John, however you never would have observed and written this without human consciousness, congratulations on a pretty profound potd, cheers David

magnificently simple but powerful poem. I liked "He touched the hem of sunset." Those words reminded me of my dad; he was alone but not lonely--a remarkable man. Enjoyed the read, thanks & enjoy your evening, Sara
