The Heat
“The Heat”
The season is upon me faster then I care for the cold bitter winds
Blowing leaves cascading through the air like butterflies
Morning sun shine giving the false feeling of warmth
Thanksgiving less than a week away I begin to pray for Spring
Holidays no longer busy with the excitement of family
Rather they are somewhat lonely and empty
No longer the voices of children playing or laughing
Just the silence of this empty house causing these feelings of loneliness
Another year has passed me by without loving arms to comfort my soul
Don’t go looking for a smile to brighten your mornings let them come to you
Yet here I sit waiting for the knock on my heart to let the love inside
Still sitting by the front door ready to accept the angel on the other side
Love where are you? Are you coming to fulfil this empty heart?
Please hurry I need you to erase this frown and erase the cold that surrounds me
I long for your arms around me as mine comfort your everything
Let our hearts be the heat that keeps us warm on these cold bitter days
