The Heartache of the Holidays

The heartache of the holidays is that, I know you will be standing there, With that smile left for everybody else, And an ache you keep hidden in your heart, Thinking about my smile and the curve of my body, In that red dress you got a sneak peak at, And I will be standing there with that laugh that you love, And the stars missing from my eyes, As I placed them in your heart the night before, So that when you left you would take with you, The deepest parts of me - And we will both sit down and say grace, A glass of wine in my hand, That I will wish to never empty, My eyes staring into the distance, As I pretend to listen to the room, And when I think about you, The stars will warm and start to shine, Within your heart - I hope you feel them, Baby I hope you feel them, For every star in the galaxy, Is just a piece of my love.
