The Green Leaf
THE GREEN LEAF.
Seated in the morning sun,
I saw it fall,
The journey down; relaxed, unhurried,
It owned the wind on that sunny day.
I saw it fall,
With the grace of a queen,
It owned the wind on that sunny day,
The landing, ‘twas soft and perfect.
With the grace of a queen,
It meandered down,
The landing, ‘twas soft and perfect,
On the wet warm ground.
It meandered down,
This shiny new leaf,
On the wet warm ground,
It curled itself with a smile as I watched,
Seated in the morning sun.
