The Greatest of These
My days were lived
like pebbles on the beach
- Tomorrow unconcerned
And like my peers
I chased that dream:
To Play with Fire
and not get burned.
But I don't wanna live that life no more
with my thoughts outside of me.
I wanna witness the light with my mind open wide.
Illuminate this obscurity.
Something's just not right here
this darkness can't be so.
I'm down on bended knee pleading,
"Can you let me in the know??"
My consequences
were inevitable
due to the choices I've made
But He sees inside of me
Imperfections and all
I need no longer be afraid
So please,
don't delight in what I've done
but rather in WHAT I DO:
Let me be your branch
the extension from the Tree.
For what value do my choices have
if every path is celebrated?
I don't need support but guidance
towards the life He has planned for me
I know the Law that Moses gave
but Jesus made me see
that without compassion
what good is honesty?
It's simple to say nice things
but if you wish to know the truth
My words carry nothing
if my feet refuse to move
I have Faith this is the truth
and Hope in a life renewed
but Lord help me please.
I wish to obtain...
... the Greatest of These.
