My grandfather told me stories about the Depression. He had to struggle to raise his family. Not everyone succeeded but the ones who did are true heroes among commen men. Good luck in the contest. Best to you, Diane

cool poem Carolyn. I really had no idea how to write one of these. Will study them for a bit but inspirations are dwindling. So glad you can head out on the ocean. I love it there since the navy. Don't really care if I fish or not. Just being out there is so inspiring and living. I hope y'all have a great time. Watch a sunset for me while riding the waves - Bob

I've never read the book, but I've heard of the Great Depression, of course. I've heard some people just plunged from top floor windows of skyscrapers (is that American for very tall buildings, or English for very tall buildings in America? I've always wondered). Lovely write, my friend. I'll send you a Bon Voyage ecard and will miss you, of course : ) I very much look forward to your book - thank you xx Hope you like WIB. Yes, that sounds like a good one for Dickinson's ghost. Sue agrees

Thanks for the visit today. I try to balance out the sad and good poems that I write. It is hard because I tend to write more when i'm feeling gloomy. I am trying to change that, lol.

Kash, the book was a best seller here in the United States, but I doubt it has as much appeal or popularity overseas. Definitely a source of inspiration I will never forget. People didn't declare bankruptcy; they dedicated the rest of their lives to paying off their debts. How the world has changed!
