The Great I Am
I saw the Lord!
In the thunder and rain!
I saw the Lord
When I called out his name!
I sought through the stars
The face of God!
AND On this night
I held no shame.
On my feet
Through the window I stared,
Empty,
Hollow,
Grieving and scared.
The emptiness in my spirit
Could not compare,
To an endless pit;
A black hole of despair.
And through the depths of my soul
Through my shattered heart filled with pain,
No one to turn to
No one to heal me- No person
No thing.
But wow!
The awesome power of EL Shaddai!
He’d seen me on my knees!
Grasping for air
Tormented by grief,
Yelling to him
“Please!”
“Please take this hurt!
I don’t want to cry!
Help me oh Lord!
I fear I will die!”
Millions of tears
And words unsaid,
My heart lay in pieces
My spirit lay dead.
But oh!
The awesome power of the Lord!
He picked me up- pieces and all!
I didn’t go down into the pit!
He didn’t let me fall!
I looked up one day
And I was healed!
Another miracle
Had been revealed!
I am truly amazed by the Lord, My King!
He has lifted me up onto eagle’s wings!
I soar higher than EVER before
As he leads me through a different door,
“My treasure is in heaven!”
I exclaim.
And I remember
The thunder
and rain.
But look! There is no going back
I search only for him!
For he is my love,
My savior,
The Great I AM!
