Our water came from springs and back yard wells. We raised crops and cleaned our sturdy homemade things. All worked. No duties were shirked. Now, we captives to modern ways sit in comfy homes, smile, and speak of the good old days and how we miss them--NOT. July 22, 2016 I have MANY sweet memories of the sixties, but they are NOT of the duties described above!

Yes, Janice, our rose tinted glasses have tunnel vision. I remember fetching coal in for the fire, sleeping under my dad's army trench coat in winter, ice inside the bedroom window. How soon we forget. Great write. Viv x

hahaha, it's all in HOW FAR BACk are people talking about. For me, the good old days were the 60's to the 80's. Those days ROCKED. Great job, Janice.

Thanks so much, Andrea! I have many fond memories of the sixties--but they are NOT of chopping and picking cotton and carrying heavy buckets of spring water up a big hill. Glad you liked the poem. Janice

Ironic isn't it? I do miss those good old days. I long for those simpler times. Times of youth and innocence. Love this nostalgic write.

I don't miss chopping and picking cotton and carrying buckets of spring water up a big hill. I do miss some things, including the spring water. Thanks, Daniel. Janice
