The Golden Locket

The necklace that Sat on the nape Of her neck Was the most Eye-catching thing She ever wore She always Kept it on And though inquired On many occasions Why she did, She never gave A straightforward answer I guessed it was Personal and private To her and wasn’t Ready to share it, But it was what I saw first On her, its subtle Beauty and glamour Which stole your Senses before you Even notice, A golden heart Hung low on a golden chain, The heart encrusted with A small green gem Where the two lines Met at the top, A blue gem at The tip at the bottom, Two red gems at The two highest peaks, And two purple gems Across from each other On the outside edges Of the locket The gold shines Ever so brightly Like it did the Day it was made The gems dazzle And encapture a Person in their gaze And put them Into a daze, And like the brilliance The necklace is, Its wearer ended In a suchly spectacular Way and passed down Her most prized possession And the secret Of its past was Found at last When the locket Was opened and Saw the picture Of her and this Man from her past, My grandpa who Was lost so early But not before Making my dad, Such a personal Story as thee Is what I treasure Oh-so much now And will forever keep To have these Memories around Written on April 29, 2021
