The Golden Cage

It shouldn't feel a trap - this golden cage. These bindings aren't some dark means of control. 'Tis a palace on ambiguous stage. 'Tis a shrine to honor your fiery soul. Do you think I could fear a well-locked room, as long as I held you within its walls? How could I see stillness as ugly doom, when I rest with you inside silent halls? Edifice of truth rose fast since we met, and I still have the key to escape it. This time when I built, there was no regret. But look close - it's not I who can claim it. How could I see rings as prisoner's chains? They are signs of truth that love never wanes. 19 April 2023
