The God of Retribution

Has sharp eyes And ears He comes out of his hut Every morning To oversee his realm If all is calm, He smiles gently And quietly returns to his musings Love and brotherhood around the planet Gives him rest Things seem to be going well Until Greed, hate, fear rear their ugly heads The god turns his head toward the unrest His job is to teach us Not only how to live; But why You don’t want to gain his attention If/when you have done your homework: Studying humanity on this planet And taking to heart the hard-learned lessons You find that Compassion, love, and happiness Can earn you his passing glance As he smiles And retreats KJ Hooten Waking up on an icy-cold morning As the seasons change October 21, 2018
