The Get-Together

The Get-together Like crispy autumn leaves tinged in vibrant orange hues, that drop and freely float ; Before settling for some rest, Unless the breeze waltz makes them dance to its tune. We, the GOMCO 85, were, rapt into lifeless routine, Striving and working like Trojans; Monotonous it might seem, Yet content and tranquil, mindful, sleeping like a log. Until one great thought of reunion, shook and woke us up; A wave of delight traversed. And there we all were; together, meeting and greeting; making some great memories. Taken away by melody of yesteryear songs ; Had few refreshing Karaokes, and countless rhythmic leg shakes. The long sought soulful chats having been vanished in time; Those high pitched cheers, Lowered with softened profiles. Broad day light dine, and the sparkling wine; Antakshari and adagios, Merging in essence of time. Lost in aura of celebration, a moment of parting came soon; embers of promises frozen in hearts, waiting for fire to be lit again. Written Oct 17, 2021 © Dr. Upma A. Sharma Dedicated to all wonderful friends of GOMCO 85 batch who gathered on Oct 17 @ Mohali Chandigarh, also to those who could not join and plan to make it next.
