The Fox's Scream

Hooting in the dead of night The hooting gives a quick jolt of fright The yellow moon so large Hovers over the trees Almost seemingly camouflaged A scream echo’s in the dead of night The pain of night is heard The fox has spread the word In the dead of night Each sound you hear Sends out its chilling fright The fox’s scream sounds chilling to the bone Walking through these fields I love I know I’m not alone Hooting so strong and eerie Floods my ears each night His cries seem so lonely as he sits before his plight The fox will scream like a lady in distress Putting your vivid imagination To the test The pain of the night is heard With the neighing of the herd The horses hover in a crowd so tight Trying to evade The harrowing cries throughout the chilling night The wind whispers across these plains But the wind is no match And cannot silent All these nightly pains Not even the ruffle of the Shire horse’s chains.
