The Forever and the Relative (Part 2)

Civilizations appeared and disappeared Empires have risen and fallen Their cultures and legends discovered Left behind for future generations, a token. To teach us what enriches and what destroys That those who have gained power by force Have fallen by the hands of discontent Leaving behind a culture of fear, that need no encores. Those who have gained power by wisdom Have left behind treasures that remained Revealed in their writings, part of their history Still inspiring today for our own victories to gain. What destroys, disappears into relativity What builds, remains in the heart of humanity Fear and anger meet relativity Love and truth meet eternity. By CarolineCecile Copyright © 03/28/10

I am always wondering how genious old civilizations were. Take e.g. the Incas or the old Egyptians, no matter what the sacrifices had been made. I found pieces of broken Roman glass in Israel's desert and fragments of clay pots in the Atacama desert and was wondering about their craftmansship! Lovely poem, gefaellt mir sehr gut und Frohe Ostern!....Gert

I loved part one and part two contains even more insight, Caroline. Tonight the History Channel has been showing a special on the Mayans and other vanished cultures that left behind "treasures." From the maps of the ancient seafarers, we learn that civilization has peaked and declined many times, just as the earth itself has changed. Brilliant poem! Love, Carolyn
