The First Snowfall

Somewhere, way up high, In the upper atmosphere, A raindrop starts to crystallize, No bigger than a tear. And when this starts to happen, As everybody knows, That little drop of rain Transforms into snow. The cloud then released the flake, On its journey down to earth And the first snowfall of winter Was given a new birth. Down on the playground below, Little Torrie stared at the sky And spying that unique snowflake, Let out a happy sigh. She watched it drifting down, With the excitement of being young, Positioning her body To have it land upon her tongue. Four feet from the ground It melted in her mouth; For the past seven years It hadn’t snowed this far south. Now deep inside her soul, This snowflake will always be As the clouds from high above Let thousands of others free. Torrie was satisfied that night, Watching the ground turning white, Knowing the flake that started it all She rescued from its fall.

It's a very special experience for a child to experience snow, Joe, especially if they live in Southern states. From your poem we get a delightful image of a little girl enjoying a memorable occasion. Well done, my friend. Soup mail in a moment. Love, peace and blessings, Carolyn
