The First of April
the first of april
looming over the horizon
one step away
from the coming
summer,
with a spring that
will zoom through
quicker than you can say
the word quick &
we’re standing
on the sidelines
in our t-shirts &
vitamin d-soaking skin
with all the
sun worshipers awaiting
the coming of their
fiery burst of amazement &
all the water worshipers
ready to wade for months &
submerge themselves in
the cleansing moisturizing
of the earth’s embracing
liquid force,
right before it all begins
to fall in on itself
again,
when autumn brings
the death of leaves &
the death of flies,
to satisfy
me.
