The Faith of a Little Child

THE FAITH OF A LITTLE CHILD (Because of Josiah) The four year old folded his hands, As he knelt one night for bed; His mother knelt there with him, Both prayed with humbled, bowed heads. "In JESUS" name, the child did say, With a sweet voiced, final amen; And, as his mother turned to go, The child asked her there, right then: "Mommy, does Santa know my JESUS?" "Does he love HIM like I do?" "Is HE in his heart, like HE is mine?" "Did HE die for Santa too?" With teary eyes the mother said, "Honey, GOD loves everyone!" "That's why HE was sent as a gift", GOD's only, beloved SON!" "But, does Santa know my JESUS?" The little one asked again; "Does he know that JESUS died," "To take away his sin?" The mother sat down beside her son, And touched his soft, skinned-cheek, "If Santa believes in GOD's full Grace", "Then all he needs do is seek!" "I cannot speak for Santa, son," "But you could pray that he does," "Because even more than Santa," "JESUS' love is the greatest ever was!" The little one got out of bed, Then, back down on his knees; Softly and tenderly, he prayed again, Knowing GOD would hear his pleas! "GOD, speak to my friend, Santa," "I think you know him too!" "If he has not given JESUS his heart," "I ask that he will come to YOU!" Crawling back into bed with a leap, The little one kissed his mother goodnight; "It will be ok mommy", he said; "I just prayed for Santa with all my might!" The tenderness of a little child; Their innocence and faithful concern; This is why JESUS loves them so; A lesson we all should learn! E. Self 2014
