The Faintest Flicker
sitting across from you
I struggle to control the beast
inside of me..
I want to scream and yell
that this is not all that there is..
I want to lecture about freaks
and downhill spirals and blessings
that take ballet and learn to play the organ..
but for the life of me I can not choke
the joy that I see in your eyes..
and for just one second .. I too
caress a sliver of hope...
