The Enemy's Child : Collab With Carolyn D

The battles on the field are harsh and tough The looting in their wake engorged with greed Abundant spoils of war are not enough. Atrocious in their acts that make no sense The women and the girls are taken slaves Abusing them with lust and violence. Unable to resist the touch of shame The captive females cry in pain and fear Their lives will never be again the same. And when the dust of war has blown away The children of the foe get born to those Who months before fell prey and ravaged lay. Unwanted children still need loving care Mothers find it hard to nurture such babes Shame is endured by children in despair. Their lives are defined by horrid attacks Evil men who satisfied selfish needs Indignities make them fall through the cracks. Who loves a child rejected by its kin? Society offers them no solace The “enemy’s child”, created by sin; But all these children still have hearts and souls Rejection renews the cycle of pain When there is no one who cares or consoles. ----------------------------------------------------- Co-write: Paul Callus & Carolyn Devonshire @ March 2015

Sadly right, lessons never learned it seems still there's room enough in Hell, and I can ask myself ( does that place ) exist..? well what you describe above exists Paul, so I suppose other conditions of 'existence' could exist..?

Sharp writing, both of you. Just because we're too far away to hear the screams of the women and then their newborn doesn't mean it isn't happening. Along with abandoned babies in the far East who are rejected for being the wrong sex, a horrific facet of what is supposed to be a civilized race. Great work, Paul and Carolyn. Regards, Viv

Your very insightful comments are much appreciated, Viv. Children get the blame for being harmless and innocent; other times they are used as bargaining tools. // paul

A hard hitting poem that makes me cringe at the societal flaws that cause rape. But the child if thus conceived is as innocent as any other. Though I tink raped women should take the morning after pill to stall conception rather than abort an embryo. U wrote it in a powerful touching way. Kudos. May war and rape may be forever abolished. Regards.

In humans, blastocyst formation, which is just an inner cell mass structure begins 5 days after fertilization, so the morn after pill which works best only 48 hrs after conjugation should be used much before that. I use it sometimes and tink there isnt anything wrong with eliminating that early cell stage. (The zygote merely)

Thank you "S" for your interesting comments. Julia may have a point in what she says. Also, in some countries women do not have easy access to morning after pills. Ideally it would be: No war...No rape! Regards...paul

Conception may have already occurred and the morning after pill would kill the blastocyst - already a life.

People belong to no one - not even new born babies! It matters not where a person comes from or how that person was conceived. Life is life - and every life deserves the best chance it gets offered...God does not come into it. My very best regards to you, Paul, and your co-writer!! :) john.

You are right, John.....every life deserves the best, and every baby deserves to be born and be given a chance to experience life. Thank you for your contribution to this sad topic. I am sure Carolyn will enjoy reading your comments. too. // Have a nice weekend. // paul

Heartwrenching..Unbelievable,but it is happening and it is true. Some people can say is there a God afterall to let such happenings, but others of faith say there has to be a God because only God can find a way to forgive such attrocities if these people beg forgiveness one day..Only God can help us forgive tjem too..and the innocent children, only God can protect them.Misted my eyes,a fav dear Caroline and Paul.

Thank you charm...you read this poem so very well. There is no hiding away from the ugly truth ... it happens much too often and it cannot be tolerated. Unfortunately many are those who try to 'solve' this issue with desperate abortions. Thank you for the fav. ... from us both:) // paul
