The End of Belief
We have become Darwinian dwarves
Driven by our appetites
Competing for satisfaction
Where once the city of God
Reigned supreme.
Utopia is nowhere,
No more does it exist.
On the surface of a near-exhausted planet
We cling to life
Better described
As a hell on earth.
Where have we gone wrong?
We know but we dare not confess
That man is not the measure of success
But rather the architect of his own doom
Where free will has left us with no room
Nor any margin for error
But left us prey to a terror
Which cancerously leaches
What Testaments teach us.
