The End Comes Cold

My heart has become a soft silhouette. There where horizon meets mind's farthest hill. Disappearing with imagined sunset, Never to see dawn again from love's chill. Love became quiet dark moments, erased, Without warning or an understood cause. The questions unanswered, the silent space, A final rush of bitterness, to pause I'll wait the last evening we'll ever see, And stay the saddest tears, that slowly fall. I'll chase the good memories, let them flee. And empty my heart's pain, I can't forestall. My breath will shallow, my eyes will be closed, Asleep on a hill, broken and exposed. contest 9/7/15
