The Dreams We See
The dreams we see are ours
Nobody else's
The ones that haunt us
Wake us up in tears and drowning in fear
We run to whoever holds us while we weep, while we remember them over and over, We're so afraid we'd lose them
We're afraid this time we have
will never be enough
The tears stop until your mind betrays you
and you learn not to turn away when they cry saying "go"
You wait with patience by the door to welcome them into these loving arms
You hold them
Assure them that everything is alright
Even as your eyes try to shut out the things you are seeing at the back of your mind
And day by day you don't have to remind yourself of how precious they are
and dreams don't have to show you
For you only learn by fear.
