The Dream Redeemer
He goes picking up dreams
one by one
he rolls them round
on the tip of his tongue
he drops them in a special place
a silver sack
around his waist
some he strings around
his throat
sweet lyrics for
the songs he wrote
some he ties
about his wrists
like chains of hearts
in turning twists
some he etches on his eyes
to always see with
new surprise
The saddest dreams
are melted down
a dross of gold
and wedding gowns
He molds them into
gold lame'
the dreams for children
in their play
The rest he sings to
late at night
and sends them on a
moonlit flight
seeking outward like a ghost
of yesterday
they find their host
sleeping,waking,in between
and give them back
a dream redeemed.
