The Door Slams On Our Faces

The door slams on our faces And shuts out our beauties, boasts and brains Out there are bubbly buds tended with keen hands That knew not any of our lures and lores The wells of hope we thought of drawing from Suddenly shut up its springs from us The smiling cabin crew in line of duty Ever playing hosts and toasts to welcomes Now their dreadest fears embrace Our buddies that planned to beat time Suddenly had time outrun them to the finishing line The pulpit man takes his turn to meet with his sermon The shopper picks up an unbargained item in her cart The family that had thought of a quick reunion Suddenly had it postponed till afterlife The goodbyes of breadwinners at the tarmac Turns out as the last and final one None death dared to rever Not even for the love we shared
