Author's Note: The "Clogyrnach" is a Welsh style poem that consists of a Sestet format (a six-line stanza) with an AB rhyme scheme. This type of specialty poem can be centralized into one stand-alone stanza or it can be expanded into two stanzas or even multiple stanzas depending on the scope and depth of the chosen poetic theme by the author. In this particular two-stanza Clogyrnach, the syllable distribution for both stanzas is: 8-8-5-5-3-3, and the rhyme sequence is: aabbba. (Note: This particular style of poem does not appear in Poetry Soup's listing of poetic formats, and so I classified it as a "Verse.") Gary Bateman - April, 26, 2020.

The Devil Cometh Tonight The fright of this unholy night says the Devil cometh tonight to capture my soul before I grow old, it is told on this night. God, save my soul on this dark night, by your true grace make it all right, save my holy soul so I may grow old, being bold this dark night. Hello Quoth The Raven, Your Welsh warning and hope for salvation are accepted. The Clogyrnach form is indeed quite interesting. Just so you know, besides the one Clogyrnach form I used for this poem, there are many variations possible. Cheers and Best, Gary

My dear friend, Gary, it is a pleasure to read your exquisite, dark poem, steeped with evil yet deep in its prayerful plea to be saved from the clutches of death. Rich and dramatic in contrast, this piece is framed perfectly in the beauty of the Clogyrnach poetry form. Your poet's note is appreciated and so wonderfully informative, highlighting a poetry form not shown on Soup. A brilliant and creative piece! Warmest wishes to you always.. ~Susan
