The Defiant Miniature Pinscher Puppy
It feels as though I have sing all the songs
It feels as though I have correct all my wrongs
It feels as though I have read all the books
It feels as though I have something delicious to cook
It feels as though I have listened to all the stories
and I have visited all the territories
It feels as though I have seen all the places
It feels as though I know all the faces
It feels as though I have listened to all the arguments
and I have taken the appropriate stand
The war of words is floating over my head
The war of words is mingling in my bed
The war of words is causing blood shed
Hungry passion leans upon my breast
Longing passion is sucking my breath
Hungry passion is causing me to sweat
Historians are feeding upon my flesh
I have scared them to death
They are digging beneath
and listening carefully to my empty speech
The grasp is within my reach and it is as simple as can be
They mingle with gentiles along the dusty road
But half of the story has not been told and we are growing old
I woke Saturday morning feeling excited
I did not know what to make of the morning
So I went in search of new meaning
I drove out of this wretched city
and ended up in the neighboring town
Things looked pretty neat
and the sign of wealth was flowing in the street
But people had nothing to eat
I was delighted to meet familiar faces and races
The rehabilitated building stood tall
others were relocated across the hall
and another slowly convalesce downtown
The town was reeling from what I don't know
The church was not growing
and people looked miserable and sad
But as I drove into the church yard something came alive
and filtrated through the entire town
By midday the town was shouting with music
people car truck bus van witnessed a traffic jam
The music came alive and motor bikes
paraded up and down the street
women latched on their man's back
Cruz on motor bikes along the narrow street
The smell of barbecue perfumed the air and
appetizing scent from the Methodist women's kitchen
attracted people far and near
The children jumped around in glee
They were as merry as can be
And I had a number of black dogs for my company
Big dogs little dogs short dogs and puppy dogs
Converged around my space lapping up water
and strolling around with their masters
When I thought it was over a miniature pinscher puppy
came along wrapped up in its mistress hand
It was dying of thirst but it was very proud
It would not drink the water on its own
so the mistress put its mouth in the bowl and forced it to drink
But even so the miniature pinscher puppy
refused to drink from the bowl in front of the crowd
Everyone eagerly watched the miniature pinscher drama
The children were excited with their painted faces
They were filled with laughter
And at the end of the day when it was over
Another dog crossed my path and greeted me with a bark
But yesterday night something caught my sight
in the commuters parking lot at the back of the big church
A white stone shaped like a heart with pink paint daubed over it
and a black mark on top revealed something unimaginable
I don't know who brought it there but someone had something to share
the pink paint discreetly covered the murder weapon
And there it was in plain site sitting on top of the manhole
I had nothing to fear everyone has a cross to bear
The defiant miniature pinscher puppy was so dear.
