The Cycle We Circle
As children- we're told not to worry,
As children- we're read bedtime stories,
As children- our anger simply melts away,
As children- we play outside each day.
As teenagers- we're told not to worry,
As teenagers- we shed bedtime stories,
As teenagers- we are always stressed,
As teenagers- we are constantly pressed.
As young adults- we worry more,
As young adults- we open doors,
As young adults-we learn to drive,
As young adults- we simply try to survive.
As adults- we hold our tongues,
As adults- we take care of our young,
As adults- we receive new responsibilities,
As adults- we struggle through life's tragedies.
As old men and women- we look back on life,
As old men and women- we continue to fight,
As old men and women-we stay at home with family,
As old men and women- we drive a leather Camry.
As we are buried- sobs arise to the air,
As we are buried- cries scream: "It isn't fair!",
As we are buried- we're still in their hearts,
As we are buried- we understand we have done our part...
