The Crush
While climbing mountains
I breathe deeply
an eternity of sky
Fastly beats the uneven
hammer of my heart
under multi-layered
coats of pain
My fingers clamour
for a more solid grip
as I slip from
the safety of my line
into the grey of your eyes
Arms flailing
the vertigo swallows me
as I fall hopelessly
into your soul
I cringe
waiting for the impact
of jagged rocks and
the inevitable crush of my bones.
