Montgomery Alabama, deep south,
a black woman's told to give up her seat.
A white passenger wanted to sit down,
she said no, that moment was bittersweet.
The bigotry she had fought to defeat
jailed her for civil disobedience.
But black communities rallied round her
and would not cower in obedience.
Boycotting the buss for over a year
the blacks in Montgomery chose to walk.
And when their revenues started dwindling
whites knew blacks had them in a hammerlock.
Rosa Parks found the courage to say no,
she's my hero, as far as heroes go.
