The Citizen
They loved him.
They raised his hopes with words.
They inspired his dreams with promise.
They pitied him.
They encouraged his hopes with deceit.
They painted his dreams with lies.
They stoned him.
They shattered his hopes with truth.
They blackened his dreams with reality.
They forgot him.
