The Choice Is Yours
Choose ye this day...
Whether you make the right choice
Or the wrong choice,
The choice is still yours.
And the choices you make
Will chart your course in life.
Bad choices may give instant gratification
But will render undue suffering.
Right choices cause rejoicing
And yield reward at their completion.
Wrong choices produce consequences,
Terms of sentences and judgments-
Like "She should've..." or "Why did he..?"
And then "I would've..." or "I could've..."
Still we don't want anyone telling us what to do.
We feel so grown. We think we are mature.
Mature people know the difference
Between good and evil. Good and evil?
If we were as mature as we think,
Our decisions would not bring such sorrow,
Such debt, such bondage, and such thoughts
As "I wish I could go back... to undo..."
So we are left marking time...
Until our sentences are over.
But we can break out of this prison,
If we will listen.
Come, let us reason together.
There is a voice, a guide;
She's not a dictator. He's a gentleman.
He is spiritual, and she can judge all things.
He himself is judged of no man,
And she comes with freedom of speech.
He comes with choice words
To persuade, convict, reprove,
To encourage and direct...
They are masters in disguise,
Servants sent to be helpful, not controlling,
So the choice is still yours.
