The Chisolms

In a crepitated house, lived vagrants. They came from the North as homeless. The mother was mixed and the father was white. They came with only shoes on their feet and the clothes on their backs. On a warm day in May, the man the children mother was cheating with killed their father. Not to alter faith, in the month of May, Erma entered the house and committed suicide. Her last words were that her children would do better with her out of their lives. The oldest child was fourteen years. The youngest was three and cognitive impaired. There were eleven children in all. Someone sat their house on fire and now all’s gone. ___________________________________| PENNED ON JULY 22, 2014!
